Tragic news surfaced early Friday morning, that former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes had a collision with a train while driving in his truck. 43-year-old Matt Hughes was airlifted to a nearby medical facility.
Little is known about the exact condition of the UFC hall of famer.
UFC President and close friend to Matt, Dana White told ESPN that Matt was helping out a friend, when the truck that he was in collided with a moving train.
Dana also revealed that Hughes was being treated for head trauma.
Of course, the family of Hughes went to be with Matt, and has asked for prayers and their privacy during such a difficult time.
Easy wishes to fulfill after the statement released by St. John’s Hospital stating,
“Former UFC fighter and Hillsboro native Matt Hughes was airlifted to HSHS St. John’s Hospital in the noon hour on Friday, June 16, 2017. The HSHS St. John’s Regional Trauma Team stabilized him and continues to help him in his recovery.”
