It’s true, Dominick Cruz is out of UFC 219 as first reported by Ariel Helwani.

Cruz has apparently broken his arm, which will keep him out of the bout against Jimmy Rivera. A fight that had the strong potential to decide the next title challenger at 135 lbs.

It is unclear what will happen next for Jimmy Rivera, but he recently took to Twitter, expressing his thoughts on what should develop next.

– “It appears @dominickcruz retired himself before I got to him. Next stop title shot. @TJDillashaw don’t try to hide behind @MightyMouseUFC.”

Brian Boom Kelleher, also took to Twitter to throw his name in the hat. The two have a history together as Jimmy Rivera defeated Brian Kelleher via unanimous decision at Bellator 95 back in 13’.

John Lineker who is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over Marlon Chito Vera, holds the number 5 spot in the division, and it seems as though he would be the most likely choice to replace Cruz. Lineker has already said he is willing to replace Cruz but no official announcements have been made.
