The “Blessed Era”, has begun.

UFC 212, pitted Champion Jose Aldo vs. Interim Champion Max Holloway, for the undisputed Featherweight Championship of the World.  In round one, Aldo seemed to find his range early landing some good combos and creating strong set ups to his offense. Holloway seeming slightly less fluid than in recent bouts, started off slow.

In the second-round while Aldo did land some good attacks and made good use of his jab. Holloway slowly started to warm up, fainting and landing some good attacks with a great use of broken timing, delaying his strikes just long enough to land powerfully.

Holloway even taunted Aldo in the last 12 seconds of the round throwing his hands up and then dropping them, obviously frustrating to Aldo.

Round three, in what would be the final round of the fight. Holloway would land a huge one-two combination, to drop Aldo mid-way through the round. With a huge crowd of Brazilians screaming for their champion, Holloway then proceeded to batter the stunned Aldo with ground and pound from the top position until the referee stoppage at :46 of round three.

After the fight, Holloway offered the mic to Aldo in front of his home crowd, but understandably the former champion would immediately make his way out of the octagon.

UFC 212, ended in a woeful silence from the crowd, as Max Holloway would call for the beginning of the “blessed era”, a big check from Dana White, and a night of fights in Hawaii.

UFC 212, drew 15,412 in attendance. The Performance of the Night Bonuses would go to Claudia Gadelha and Brian Kelleher, while the Fight of the Night went to the main event.
