Dana White: Lookin’ for a Star?
The UFC, has found themselves in an interesting position as of late. With new ownership eager to prove their worth, and with UFC superstars like Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor vacant for the presumable future. The UFC seems in need of a star to steal the spotlight. Top prospect, Raufeon Stots recently sat cage side with Dana White at UFC Fight Night in KC after capturing the VFC Bantamweight Title from the former two division champion and UFC vet Rob Emerson. Raufeon recently announced Via his Instagram that he will be fighting June 2nd in Atlantic City, New Jersey, for the Ring Of Combat Bantamweight Title. Where Dana White and the “Lookin’ For A Fight” crew will be in attendance.
With fighters like Sage Northcutt, and Mickey Gal both gaining their start from the show, Dana White: Lookin’ For a Fight. It seems the UFC is hopeful to repeat that same success by offering some of MMA’s top prospects a chance to show out in front of the boss, and prove their deserving of a UFC contract. While this seems like a good promotional idea from the UFC, to give their up and coming fighters a little extra publicity, before they make their UFC debut. Fighters like Jose “Shorty” Torres, seem rather perplexed by the idea of having to prove more to the UFC brass.
Eric Peterson, a fan of Shorty’s, commented,
“He’s too “clean”. He is from the hood but not a hoodrat. Instead of spending time in prison, he spent time in college. He hones his craft with time consuming workouts instead of consuming his time getting the latest sleeve tattoo. He flies high overseas to compete instead of flying high on the latest drug. He has stable relationships with many people instead of many people in his stable. Sounds like a superstar to me. Eff the status quo.”
Is the UFC making the right decision with their Top Prospects?
